How-To: Move CabinPulse to a New Location

CabinPulse is designed for monitoring cabins and remote properties; while most people choose to leave it at one location year-round, others want to check on different properties depending on the time of year.

One common example are snowbirds who own property in Mexico or the United States and spend the summers here in Canada and the winters down south. They need to keep an eye on whatever property they're not staying at - and often don't want to keep paying for internet while they're gone!

Fortunately, CabinPulse is built for this!

You can move your device to new locations and it will continue to work. CabinPulse is fully supported in Canada, the United States and Mexico and will remain connected and transmitting data seamlessly. It's also unofficially supported across Central and South America and will likely work across those countries too.

CabinPulse is not currently supported outside of North, Central and South America.

Step 1: Unplug Your Device

First, unplug your CabinPulse device. If you have power outage alerts configured, you'll get an alert - which you can safely ignore!

Step 2: Pack it Securely

Pack your device and the power adapter securely; we recommend using bubble wrap to keep it protected. Ensure you bring the original CabinPulse power adapter along with you - using a different power adapter may result in less accurate temperature readings as devices are calibrated with the included adapter.

Step 3: Contact CabinPulse Support

Your device will remain powered on and reporting data even though it's unplugged and packed up; before moving it to a new location we strongly recommend contacting CabinPulse Support via email or live chat so we can remotely power down your device. Otherwise, it will continue to capture readings and drain down the battery. It's especially important that you have your device powered down if you're traveling by air.

Contact CabinPulse Support when your device is packed and ready to move, and we'll remotely power down your device to prevent any issues when moving it between locations.

Step 4: Plug-in at New Location

When you arrive at the new location, simply plug in your device. It will power up and connect automatically and immediately start reporting data again. It may take an hour or two for the air quality sensor to calibrate at the new location.

And voilà, you're now monitoring an entirely new location - whether it's at a different lake, city, province, country or even continent!
